Hazards on the Wirral coast

  • Mud, gutters and fast-flooding channels run all along the Dee shore. Check local signs.
  • Only walk to Hilbre from Dee Lane, West Kirby. Never start from Red Rocks, Hoylake or Caldy.
  • In summer, some beaches have RNLI lifeguards. Swim between the red and yellow flags.
  • If someone is in trouble on the shore or in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
